Journal 20

I'm most excited for it to be over.. not going to lie. I am excited for prom I've gone all four years of high school, so that's pretty fun. And my Taylor Swift concert in May, I'm pumped for that. I'm going to Alma and I'm cheering there, so I move in early and I'll be in Kentucky for cheer camp on my 18th birthday.. I will probably miss parts of high school, but then again I might not miss it at all. I'm scared but ready to start the new "chapter" in my life.

I thought it was an alright book. Some points it was hard to get into because he just rambled about weird things he shouldn't, like he goes into to much detail that I can't deal with it. I liked how he loved his sister so much and how much he missed his brother. My faveorite book was probably Great Gatsby just because it was easy to get into and it actually interested me with everything going on in it.

I feel like Holden swears to keep his "image" going. He does hate it and his sister Phoebe hates it too. It might make him feel more confident, like he's tough or something and that's why he does it. He tries to be someone else to different people hiding his emotions and swearing is just another way he can do it.

He lies about his name, and where he's from. Because he doesn't want people to know who he is and he doesn't want anyone to recognize him because he's back home. I'd say he's mentally unstable but it is smart considering he doesn't want to get caught because he's not going  home yet.

I have a watch, it was my grandpas who died almost 2 years ago. It's obviously old, and it's kind of tarnished because I haven't cleaned it or anything. My dad gave it to me and it's the only thing I have to remember him by besides the memories. I've had it for a year and a half i think. I used to keep it on my mirror but when we moved I put it in a box, so It's somewhere with the rest of my jewelry. I don't show it to anyone, if they see I'll tell them what it is. I love it because it was his, I'll probably never wear it but at least i have it.

To me Holden doesn't cope with the world around him. He's just kind of angry all the time, and he takes out all of his anger in his actions or in the words and ways he talks to people. Because he's afraid of dealing with problems and facing them. Maybe if he confronted his problems and or talked it out, and listened to what other people had to say he'd be less angry and feel better.
